Workplace and Environmental Hazard Identification
Regulatory and Technical Associates (RTA) is experienced in providing workplace and environmental hazard identification and hazard communication consulting services.
RTA has been instrumental in assessing hazards in both the workplace environment as well as in the field, including hazardous waste sites. Many chemicals and drugs that are proven to be safe in use, can, if exposed to humans at high levels, represent workplace and environmental hazards. Regulatory and Technical Associates experienced staff review the current standards set by OSHA and ACGIH, and apply them to the workplace settings of clients on an individual basis.
In situations where OSHA and/or ACGIH have not established a safe exposure limit for a specific material, we will develop a scientifically based occupational exposure limit for the workplace based on available preclinical and clinical data and information available from the scientific literature. RTA is an experienced hazard consulting services company. When a company has made a potential workplace or environmental hazard identification, (eg dumpsites, effluents in streams,), RTA is competent and experienced in evaluating the innate toxicity of the material in the environment to determine whether hazards to humans or the environment are present. RTA will provide assistance in the communication of these hazards to governmental agencies and to the public.
The standard document in the US for communicating safety information in the workplace is the material safety data sheet. As part of our hazard communication consulting service, RTA will assist in the development and revision of material safety data sheets (MSDS). Data such as chemical formula identification, physical attributes, exposures and safety limits are composed in standardized OSHA compliant formats to meet the client needs.
